So if you may have read my thoughts on the prior two books, if so you'd know that I haven't really been feeling the Trials of Apollo series so far, HOWEVER. I have to read every book Riordan writes at this point because I'm invested and generally enjoy his series. SO I shall continue on, and am I so glad I did.
I ended up liking this one much more than the previous two.
It was deeper and more serious in terms of emotions and understanding oneself and self growth.
It was thrilling and more complex in terms of plot. And Uncle Rick didn't pull punches this time, he didn't give you a loophole to escape death in this one, the prophecies did not lie.
The characters went through SO much in just this one part of the series, but they really grew so much. I really feel like I'm rooting for everyone now. And seeing Apollo make his way through all the different chapters of the prior series is also a nice nostalgic touch.
The villain was actually really really cruel and horrible. I had real feelings of disgust about him and I feel like that made him a better villain out of those we've encountered so far. Plus he has a talking horse. So many talking things that shouldn't normally be talking.
The talking arrow for example is probably my favorite "character" and honestly has the best lines. I wonder when we will get more information about its origins!
Overall, great story, I'm very excited now to continue onto the next book knowing where it's supposed to take us next! Onto Tyrant's Tomb!
