4 stars! Spoiler free review!
What I was expecting from this book: cute dazzling charming male witch love interest with a British accent, relatable female witch who may be just a little bit messy, a burning romance, all the cozy vibes and family wholesomeness. AND THAT’S WHAT I GOT.
So look, I didn’t go into this book wanting the most breathtaking complicated witchy magical romance. I wanted fun and sexy and *minimally * spooky and that’s what this gave me.
I liked all the characters!
Vivienne is actually an undiagnosed badass who is also funny? Yes please.
Her relationship with Gwyn and Elaine is full of love and wholesomeness, and they themselves also have great wit.
Rhys is honestly there to take all the jabs from them (despite the fact that I think he didn’t do anything crazy wrong, just young people kinda mistakes yenno?). Rhys, with his “hair thing,” is trying to right his wrongs and is just a regular ‘ol good man.
The plot was fast paced and easy to read to pull you right out a slump if you were in one. Let’s be honest, it’s wasn’t anything profound and no hard hitting topics were discussed, but we weren’t here for that.
The romance was exactly what you'd expect — exciting, angsty, funny, and the spicy level was just about right, did not disappoint.
FUN + ROM COM + lovable characters. It’s the perfect romance for the spooky season if you didn’t already read it this past Halloween. Highly recommend even if you’re in a slump!
